Todays sketch, comes from that of a 3 year olds recent nightmares. My daughter has had trouble sleeping the past few nights due to a "monster" in her dreams. As a father, I want to do everything in my power to make her feel safe. This is new ground for me however. I've had nightmares in the past, but I've never known a way to "deal" with them. I just push past them and try to move on.Of course, my daughter doesn't quite understand that type of thought process yet, so I had her sit down and describe it to me. The creature above is my best rendition of what she said. I'm hoping that getting it out in the open will ease her worries. I also sketched it in front of her to show her that it's all just the power of imagination and that there's no way it could harm her. Did it work? So far, she hasn't woken up crying yet, so here's hoping.
Being a parent is a strange and fantastic thing. You learn stuff every day and you grow along with your spawn. It truly is the greatest adventure.
